The Role
Hain Daniels are currently recruiting for a Engineering Reliability Manager in our Histon Site. In Histon, we manufacture a host of ambient sweet spreads and jellies for our grocery brands. These includes Hartley's jams and jellies, Gale's honey, Rose's and Robertsons marmalade's.
Overview
This role will be responsible for delivering the vision of the engineering function across all manufacturing sections and utilities on the Histon site. The core focus for this role is to ensure equipment and facilities maintenance is completed to a high standard ensuring machine availability is maximised and all compliance standards are met at all times. This includes the management and timely implementation of permanent corrective actions against all causes of failure and ensuring equipment life is maximised while achieving optimum value for money. Works under the responsibility of this position will also include a range of projects, process improvement, equipment repair, and maintenance including overhauls, installation of machines, tools, and equipment in manufacturing operations
Key responsibilities
1. Demonstrate leadership in the area of health & safety.Ensures all engineering and maintenance activities on site exceed the appropriate health and safety standards.
2. Put in place and ensure delivery of a skills training plan reviewed and updated annually. To lead the engineering team in the development and implementation of the site Engineering Planned Maintenance (PM) strategy. This will be instrumental in supporting the Engineering transformation, in moving from a reactive to proactive and predictable way of working in engineering.
3. To lead the engineering reliability team in development of planned maintenance schedules and develop robust relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) to continually challenge schedules and develop effective future schedules.
4. To lead the engineering team in implementation of a strategy to return the Manufacturing Assets line by line, ‘to their original operating conditions, by a matrix management approach with manufacturing.
5. To lead the definition and implementation of a predictive maintenance strategy by using modern maintenance practices to reduce the level of intrusive maintenance, through Condition Based Monitoring, Thermography and Oil analysis.
6. To lead the definition and implementation of systems to support the Loss Ownership process, executing PM plans to deliver the asset mechanical performance, by utilising technical abilities and systems knowledge to achieve high plant efficiency.
7. To lead the engineering team in the identification of daily maintenance type activities to manufacturing through operators and technical operators, for delivery through the autonomous maintenance team e.g. 5’s Cleaning, Lubrication and simple mechanical maintenance tasks.
8. To build robust relationships key with stakeholders, providing engagement, education and awareness for the Planned and Preventative Maintenance processes.
9. To lead the Engineering Reliability team in defining the critical assets and assess the critical spare parts listings for the equipment, whilst ensuring obsolesce programmes for spare parts are in place.
10. Design CBM/GBM (Condition Based Monitoring) together with transition schedule for internal integration at agreed date.
11. Management of all Key contractors integral to support site reliability.
12. Develop standardisation of parts used and develop part replacement programme which exists “within” lead times.
13. Responsible for ensuring that all Hain Daniels policies and standards are implemented and adhered to while ensuring regional, national and local legislative requirements are met by the site engineering function and any external services/contractors utilised by engineering.
14. Responsible for management and delivery of the weekly Maintenance works schedule and any urgent work that arises, where necessary resetting the daily priorities ensuring the plant operation is fully supported and output is not impacted due to engineering issues. This includes managing and controlling all day to day maintenance activities on site delivered by either in house engineers or contract support.
15. Deliver the site maintenance asset care programme. Ensuring its effectiveness and efficient delivery measured through the use of standard KPIs.
16. Apply technical skills and ingenuity to the correction of equipment problems causing excessive production downtime and maintenance work as necessary.
17. Develop a plan and timeline to eliminate emergency repair work, and maximize planned and project work ensuring the preventative maintenance plan is delivered as scheduled.
18. Responsible for people performance and development this includes Regular engagement with team members to review performance Coach and develop direct reports Carry out regular skills analysis
19. Oversee the spare parts inventory holding ensuring it optimised to minimize equipment downtime at minimum inventory levels. Ensure that the inventory is secure, strategically located for end use, fit for purpose when issued and regularly reviewed against site requirements.
20. Manage the maintenance department budget to detail spending by category, and maximize expenditure effectiveness for minimum unplanned production downtime and maximum workplace efficiency.

21. Delivery of the engineering planned maintenance reliability programme to deliver World Class Engineering
22. The development of a formal system to engage and manage proactive Engineering capabilities across all engineering functions.
23. Define and communicate the Engineering capabilities to the Engineering Manager/Plant Manager.
24. Lead the engagement of engineering support for TPM as required
25. Providing robust and concise leadership of the reliability/production engineering team.
26. Implementing change to comply with the new site engineering standards.
27. Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance system to deliver a world class engineering performance and implement with a highly trained engineering function.
28. Develop capital projects to deliver sustainable performance.
29. Delivering the Engineering reliability to agreed KPI’s, driving continuous improvement within Engineering by challenging existing practices, using OE methodology and managing change effectively.
30. Facilitate the removal of obstacles focusing on a common understanding of the change programme.
31. Management of the maintenance/reliability/project engineering budgets
32. Utilise the PDP process to ensure the reliability team responsibilities are aligned and integrated to achieve World Class Engineering
33. Ensure reliability engineers and production engineers are suitably developed to meet current and future role requirements and develop a succession plan
34. Ensure reliability function performance is managed to maximise effectiveness
35. Ensure the engineering team is adequately staffed to deliver business requirements
Requirements for this position
The successful candidate will demonstrate a combination of the, technical skills and experience and personal and technical competencies outlined as follows:
Technical Skills and Experience
36. Electrical or mechanic 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
37. 5+ years supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
38. Excellent troubleshooting ability
39. FMCG knowledge.
40. Proven track record building solid working relationships
41. Knowledgeable in Maintenance best practice and CMMS systems to assist in delivering same.
42. Strong computer skills in Microsoft programs Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Good technical analysis ability and proficient in report writings.Fully proficient in interpreting CAD drawings, for electrical, mechanical and facilities all relevant Trade qualification, diploma or degree.
