Grade: 8; Full Time, Permanent.

Salary: £47,389 – £56,535, with potential progression to £63,606.
Academic Development Programme
New Assistant Professors will complete a 5‑year development programme, at the end of which they are expected to be promoted to Associate Professor.
Role Summary
The post holder(s) will deliver teaching to MSc Statistical Data Science, MSc Bioinformatics and MSc Healthcare Data Science programmes delivered at J‑BJI in Guangzhou, while based in the School of Mathematics, Birmingham. They will contribute to the School’s research portfolio and participate in management and enterprise activities.
Responsibilities
* Education and Teaching – Design, deliver and assess courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD levels; plan teaching approaches; develop inclusive and engaging curriculum content; use digital resources; contribute to programme design; supervise students; contribute to knowledge‑transfer and public engagement activities.
* Research – Conduct and publish high‑quality research; secure funding; manage research projects; supervise PhD and early‑career researchers; present findings in conferences; engage in cross‑disciplinary networks; contribute to enterprise and public engagement.
* Management and Administration – Support department and School administration; lead and manage teams; advise on personal development of colleagues; contribute to university panels and working groups; manage enterprise and public engagement; promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
* Citizenship – Participate in university life, committees and events; support colleagues; volunteer for school projects; engage in strategic initiatives; foster an inclusive community spirit.
Person Specification
* PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics or related area.
* Extensive research and teaching experience and scholarship.
* Proven ability to devise, advise on and manage learning and research responsibilities.
* Skills in managing, motivating and mentoring staff and students.
* Strong commitment to teaching, mentoring and service; internationally recognised research record.
* Ability to contribute to management processes, use resources efficiently and promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
