Overview
We are looking for a motivated Adult Community Speech and Language Therapist to join our small team. The post is 22 hours and is a band 6 based at Malton Hospital. The advertised vacancy notes that it does not meet UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and HTFT would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.
Our service provides care for patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders. We offer appointments by home visit, outpatient clinic, telephone, and video. Our caseload includes neurological degenerative conditions, care homes, two community hospitals, voice and stroke. A UK driving licence and the ability to travel independently between sites are essential for this role.
We are a supportive team who work together closely. We are keen to provide excellent patient care, help develop your skills and for you to help develop our skills.
Responsibilities
* To deliver high level, quality care and evidence-based interventions in line with local and national guidance within an adult acquired community caseload.
* To deliver SLT intervention in both autonomous and multidisciplinary working.
* To plan, provide and evaluate interventions within an identified clinical area.
* To participate in the delivery of service-specific training as required.
* To support identified assistants.
* To undertake administrative duties as required.
* To manage a caseload, including self-directed planning and time management within identified clinical area.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential and Desirable qualifications, knowledge, experience, and skills are listed below:
* Current registration with HCPC and RCSLT
* Professional knowledge through degree, short specialist courses (e.g., Post Graduate module in dysphagia) plus equivalent knowledge and experience in the specialist field (e.g., adults with acquired conditions) and evidence of CPD
* Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation and guidance relevant to the clinical and service area
* Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice standards and audits within the identified clinical area
* Good IT skills
* Specialist understanding of relevant clinical practice, standards and protocols within the identified clinical area
* Evidence of undertaking audits/surveys
* Desirable: Leadership qualification or equivalent experience if required
* Desirable: Teaching qualification or equivalent presentation skills/training experience
* Desirable: Recent experience as a supervisor and placement educator
* Desirable: Member of a specialist interest group/network, locally or regionally
* Desirable: Develop to advanced understanding of relevant clinical practice, standards and protocols within the identified clinical area
* Experience: Evidence of sound post-registration professional practice
* Experience: Evidence of continuing professional development at a specialist level of care
* Experience: Evidence of promoting/supporting active user/carer involvement/participation
* Experience: Experience of multi-agency/professional working
