Role Overview
As a Draughtsman/Woman at BenweldSecure, you’ll be responsible for developing detailed 3D/2D designs and manufacturing drawings for our range of security products. You’ll play a key part in turning customer specifications and concept designs into production-ready solutions, working closely with sales, production, and Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
* Create and maintain detailed 3D/2D CAD models and technical drawings using SolidWorks (or similar)
* Prepare bill of materials (BOMs) and production packs for fabrication
* Support the sales and estimating team with design input and technical clarifications
* Apply relevant design standards, tolerances, and materials knowledge (e.g. steel, aluminium)
* Review and improve existing designs to enhance manufacturability, cost, and performance
* Liaise with production, suppliers, and quality control to ensure accuracy and efficiency
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and engineering standards
Skills & Experience
* HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical or Product Design Engineering
* Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
* Experience in sheet metal fabrication and welded assemblies
* Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to design and documentation
* Ability to interpret technical specifications, standards, and test requirements
* Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
* Experience in the security, defence, or construction sector
* Knowledge of LPCB, LPS 1175, or BS EN 1627 standards
* Hands-on experience supporting prototype builds or site installations
