Management Accountant (6‑month FTC)

. We work every day to make places safer, cleaner, more secure and more sustainable. The Water Division is our largest and most complex, and we are looking for a Management Accountant who can support high‑quality reporting and financial performance.
This is a
6‑month fixed‑term contract
.
The Management Accountant will take ownership of their allocated entity and its reporting within the deadlines set, supported by the Senior Management Accountant. You will ensure that information provided to the Financial Controllers and senior finance team is accurate, with variances clearly justified.
Role Responsibilities
* Prepare and post prepayments, accruals, depreciation and amortisation.
* Take ownership of allocated entities' monthly management accounts and reporting pack submissions.
* Review the P&L for activity performed by others and seek justification for any variances.
* Provide detailed Excel spreadsheet analysis as required.
* Ensure balance sheet working files are continuously updated throughout the month‑end process.
* Deliver accurate Divisional and Group reporting and analysis.
* Complete Risks and Opportunities for BLFC sign‑off prior to submission.
* Submit balance sheet analysis and commentary to highlight areas of concern and recommended solutions.
* Produce the balance sheet control file with supporting documentation in preparation for monthly sign‑off.
* Remain focused and meet all reporting deadlines.
* Prepare financial year‑end audit packs and liaise with auditors to ensure deliverables are met.
* Provide all information to Group relating to statutory reporting and review draft statutory accounts.
* Support the budgeting and forecasting process through information provision and analysis.
* Improve the timing, content and accuracy of both financial and management reporting.
* Maintain procedure and process documents while seeking continuous improvements.
* Undertake other ad hoc duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.
* Previous involvement in management accounts preparation.
* Demonstrable experience of transforming large‑volume data sets into workable, meaningful information.
* Ability to thrive within a matrix organisation and finance structure.
* Ability to work to tight reporting deadlines.
