Document Controller – Upstream Oil & Gas
Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Document Controller to join our upstream oil and gas operations based in London. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of project documentation across international teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the control, distribution, and archiving of project documentation throughout the document lifecycle.
* Administer SharePoint sites, including structuring, permissions, and custom workflow automation.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across different time zones to ensure documentation is complete, consistent, and compliant with internal and external standards.
* Implement and maintain document control procedures, ensuring traceability and version control.
* Support reporting and data visualization needs using Power BI and other BI tools.
* Maintain databases and document registers, ensuring metadata accuracy and accessibility.
* Generate dashboards and reports using DAX/M, SQL, and Power BI to support project oversight and decision-making.
* Drive efficiencies using Power Automate (Flows), VBA macros, and other automation tools.
* Support the integration of document control systems with other project management tools and applications.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Minimum 10 years’ experience in a document control or equivalent role within the oil & gas, energy, or mining sectors.
* Proven expertise in document control software, including SharePoint administration.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform:
* Power BI (PL-300, DA-100),
* Power Automate (PL-400),
* Microsoft 365 administration (MS-700, MS-102T00-A),
* Data security/compliance (SC-400).
* Familiarity with SQL, DAX/M Language, VBA, and HTML/CSS.
* Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or SAP Analytics is an advantage.
* Excellent Excel skills, with a high degree of proficiency in automation and data manipulation.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work effectively with diverse teams and under time constraints.
* Degree qualified in a relevant discipline or qualified by significant industry experience.
Desirable:
* Experience with SharePoint Designer and document workflow customization.
* Familiarity with document standards and compliance protocols in upstream oil & gas operations.
* Experience working on multi-region or joint venture oil & gas projects.
