We are seeking an ambitious, inspirational, and experienced Head of English to lead our successful English department at a thriving secondary school in the Thamesmead area.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate English specialist with a strong track record of raising attainment and delivering outstanding teaching across Key Stages 3-5. The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader committed to academic excellence, curriculum innovation, and ensuring every student develops a love of literature and language.
The Role
The Head of English will:
* Lead and manage the English department across KS3, KS4, and KS5
* Drive high standards of teaching, learning, and achievement
* Develop an engaging and ambitious English curriculum
* Support and develop staff through coaching and professional development
* Monitor student progress and implement effective intervention strategies
* Promote a culture of high expectations and inclusive practice
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* A degree in English or a related subject
* Proven experience teaching English at KS5
* Strong leadership or middle leadership experience within a secondary setting
* A track record of improving outcomes and student engagement
* Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
