Job Purpose:To support the smooth running of the solicitor’s office by providing professional front-of-house reception services and high-quality administrative support. This role offers a legal graduate the opportunity to gain experience in a professional legal environment, build essential skills, and observe legal practice in action. Key Responsibilities:Reception Duties: Act as the first point of contact for all visitors and clients Manage incoming calls, take accurate messages, and direct queries appropriately Greet clients in a professional and friendly manner Maintain a tidy and welcoming reception area Administrative Support: Handle incoming and outgoing post and email correspondence Schedule appointments and manage meeting room bookings Prepare, print, and format letters, legal forms, and other documents Photocopy, scan, file, and maintain both physical and digital case files Client File Management: Assist with opening, closing, and archiving client files Input data into the case management system accurately Ensure all documentation is compliant with firm policies and regulatory requirements General Office Duties: Order and manage office supplies Support solicitors and legal assistants with ad hoc tasks Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Person Specification:Essential: Recent law graduate (LLB or equivalent) Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills Strong written communication and administrative ability Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) Professional appearance and attitude Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Desirable: Previous experience in a receptionist or admin role Familiarity with legal documentation or case management systems Aspiration to pursue a career in law Working Conditions: Office-based role 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday May involve periods of working under pressure and managing multiple tasks Benefits: Exposure to a legal working environment Development of communication and administrative skills Opportunity to observe legal professionals and casework in practice Potential for internal career progression
