Applications are invited for a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery with subspecialty interests in Orthogeriatric Trauma with Revision Knee Arthroplasty
The appointed candidate will work as part of a large Trauma & Orthopaedic Department across sites including the Major Trauma Centre at Royal Sussex County Hospital and a tertiary elective unit, Sussex Orthopaedic Treatment Centre (SOTC), on the Princess Royal Hospital site, Haywards Heath.
Fracture clinics (including virtual),
• Elective operating and other roles necessary to support the department. Elective surgery is undertaken at the SOTC which is a GIRFT accredited HVLC Hub.
• Engaging with research, audit and all other supporting activities necessary to deliver excellent tertiary care.

It is essential that they are able to treat periprosthetic femoral fractures and will form part of the hip fracture unit MDT. The on-call responsibility for this post will include participation in Hip Fracture cover during the week and a 1 in 8 weekend.
The role will cover primary and revision knee arthroplasty, fragility femoral fracture operating, fracture clinics (including virtual), ward rounds, trauma operating, elective operating and other roles necessary to support the department. Elective surgery is undertaken at the SOTC which is a GIRFT accredited HVLC Hub.
The Job Plan contains 40 hours a week, separated into 10 x 4 hour segments known as a PA (Programmed Activity). These 10 PAs will consist of 8 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) PAs for clinic and theatre lists, and 2 Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) PAs for administrative work, teaching and supervision roles.
The post includes a 1 in 8 weekend on call commitment with an option to join the weekday polytrauma on call rota
