PE Teacher (Maternity Cover)

About the Role
A well-regarded secondary school in Durham is seeking an enthusiastic and committed PE Teacher to join their department on a maternity cover basis from April 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, promoting physical activity, teamwork, and a lifelong passion for sport and health.
Role Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons in line with the national curriculum
* Teach across KS3 and KS4, covering a range of sports and physical activities
* Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation and confidence
* Differentiate activities to support students of all abilities
* Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback
* Prepare students for practical assessments where applicable
* Contribute to curriculum planning and department development
* Support extracurricular activities such as school teams, clubs, and fixtures
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Experience teaching PE at KS3-KS4
* Strong subject knowledge across a range of sports and activities
* Excellent behaviour management and organisational skills
* A passion for promoting health, fitness, and student wellbeing
