Overview
The Pathology departments at University Hospitals North Tees and Hartlepool (NTH) and South Tees Hospitals (STH) are working collaboratively to develop a joint service called Tees Valley Pathology (TVP) with services being delivered on all hospital sites, Under direction of the Pathology Management Team and Senior Biomedical Scientists in Cellular Pathology the post holder will be required to perform the routine day to day operations within the Cellular Pathology department, rotating between all sections within the specialty following approved methodologies and procedures.
Responsibilities
To assist in the training and development of Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Medical Laboratory Assistants and other staff grades according to departmental policy. It is expected that the post holder will work autonomously without direct supervision.
Qualifications
We are seeking applications from suitably qualified, enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with appropriate experience to participate in the delivery of services provided by Cellular Pathology department as part of the TVP service.
Candidates for the Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) roles should be HCPC state registered and hold an IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Histopathology.
Depending on the level of qualifications and degree of experience from applications for the Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) posts, consideration will also be given to applicants who are newly qualified HCPC candidates and who may be working towards these qualifications and thus be applicable for employment at Registered Biomedical Scientist (Band 5) level.
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust now form University Hospitals Tees and as such you may be required to work at any site across both Trusts.
