NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. The shift pattern for this role is Monday to Friday during core hours.
We invite applications to join our dynamic, forward-thinking, and friendly team as Head of Health Physics.
Health Physics offers ionising and non-ionising radiation protection services and Medical Physics Expert services in Diagnostic Radiology. It is part of the Department of Clinical Physics and Bioengineering, one of the UK's largest medical physics departments. The successful candidate will lead a team of twelve physicists and five technologists, overseeing services to eight Health Boards in Scotland's west and borders regions. The role involves leading continuous change in response to evolving legislation, technology, and clinical needs, as well as managing education and training programs, including collaborations with the University of Glasgow.
Applicants should hold a good honours Degree in Physical Sciences, a MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent, and preferably a PhD. Registration as a Clinical Scientist with HCPC is required, along with current certificates of competence from RPA2000 as a Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA) and Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in Diagnostic Radiology. Demonstrable management and communication skills, along with a research portfolio, are essential.
