The role combines practical horticultural work, groundskeeping, and light equine duties, ideal for someone who enjoys varied outdoor work in a rural environment. Key Responsibilities Grounds Maintenance Maintain lawns, formal and informal gardens, woodland areas, and estate pathways. Hedge cutting, strimming, mowing, leaf clearance, bed preparation, planting, and seasonal tasks. Maintain hard landscaping areas, including terraces, driveways, courtyards, and steps. Operate and care for estate machinery such as mowers, strimmers, compact tractors, and blowers. Maintenance of outdoor structures, fencing, gates, water features and garden furniture Support estate events by preparing and presenting outdoor spaces. Gardening & Horticulture Planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, and border maintenance. Care of trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants. Monitoring plant health, pests, and diseases. Equine Support (Light Duties) Assistance with daily equine routines, e.g. feeding, mucking out Maintaining clean, safe, and tidy stable areas, tack rooms, and yards. General paddock and stable care to keep the area clean and safe Essential: Confidence working outdoors in all weather conditions. Practical experience operating grounds and garden machinery. Comfortable working around horses Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining exceptional standards. Horticultural knowledge Tractor driving experience or certificate Good understanding of plant care, pruning, and seasonal tasks Good awareness of Health & Safety practices Flexible to assist with occasional events or weekend duties Interest in countryside living and estate heritage Desireable: Previous experience working on a private estate or country property. PA1/PA6 spraying qualifications (not essential). Full UK driving licence.
