Offer description

This post has been identified as suitable for Nottinghamshire County Council’s Apprenticeship Scheme.

In order to apply, you must be willing to undertake training against an appropriate Apprenticeship Standard that will be delivered by an approved training provider.

Apprenticeships are open to all ages and abilities, designed to encourage those who may not have the necessary experience or qualifications to access employment.

Are you interested in a new career in Trading Standards? We seek a flexible, highly motivated individual capable of working independently and as part of a team.

You should demonstrate a willingness to study and develop your skills to successfully complete the Level 6 Trading Standards Professional Apprenticeship. Upon successful completion, there may be an opportunity to pursue further qualifications within the Trading Standards Qualification Framework.

This post is fully funded by the Department of Health and Social Care. Your primary focus will be on tackling illegal and underage sales of tobacco products and supporting businesses to comply with legislation designed to protect consumers and young people. You will also gain experience across all Trading Standards activities.

Join our forward-thinking Trading Standards Service, which combines a commercial approach with innovative enforcement tactics to protect our communities, especially vulnerable residents.

We offer mentoring and support to candidates demonstrating potential, with a strong record of career development for our officers.

If you are seeking a varied, interesting, and challenging career, this could be the opportunity for you. For more information about a career in Trading Standards, visit:

Successful completion of the Level 6 Trading Standards Professional Apprenticeship, which lasts approximately 29 months but may be shortened based on experience, is a condition of employment. Applicants should have achieved the equivalent of five GCSE passes (including English and Maths), with at least two at Advanced level.

You will be required to pass and maintain non-police personnel level 2 vetting.

Disabled applicants meeting the essential criteria will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts, both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and all staff must undergo appropriate checks.

Nottinghamshire County Council strives to exceed the requirements of the Equalities Act and is proud to be accredited as a Disability Confident Leader Organisation.

We encourage applications from all, regardless of gender, marital status, disability, race, religion, belief, pregnancy, maternity, age, or sexual orientation.
