About the Role We now have an opportunity for a Health Physicist to provide health physics services and promote radiation (ionising & non-ionising) safety culture at Diamond. The successful applicant will carry out the following duties in the field of ionising and non-ionising radiation safety: Performing routine/ annual radiation surveys/ inspections during the commissioning, operation of the Diamond accelerators and beamlines, X-ray units, Electron Microscope units or any other ionising devices. Assisting with the supply of personnel dosimetry and associated record keeping. Assisting with the writing of appropriate Local Rules, any ionising or non-ionising radiation safety notes/advice, risk assessments and Systems of work. Supervising the purchase, transport and disposal of radioactive sources and waste and associated record keeping. Provide/design/ arrange/ review any radiation safety training according to need About You You will be qualified to degree level in physics or other relevant discipline in science, along with experience and knowledge in the following areas: Working in a Radiation Protection or Health Physics environment. Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017, including its Approved Code of Practice and the Environmental Permitting Regulations. Radiation monitoring, including neutron fields, detectors, dosimetry, X-ray & EM units and dose control Experience of working in a synchrotron radiation environment would be an advantage, although training can be provided.
