Job Description:
Nixor is seeking Principal/Lead Architects with Life Insurance/Assurance industry knowledge to join a newly formed architecture team for the UK's largest Mutual Pensions company. This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future technology landscape as they transition from legacy systems to a modern, microservices-based architecture.
About the Role
As a Lead Architect, you will own your domain, overseeing applications, cloud infrastructure, and services. You will be part of a new team tasked with transforming a legacy "spaghetti" architecture into a modern microservices architecture.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact during a transformative journey supported by full endorsement and resources.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical oversight within your domain
* Collaborate with the board and senior stakeholders
* Lead the transition to microservices architecture
* Define and implement best practices for development, security, and observability
* Mentor junior architects and technical teams
* Act as the technical liaison for your business unit
Why Join?
Our Director of Architecture joined six months ago, citing the opportunity to make a quick and significant impact. The team is being built from the top down, with full support from leadership.
* Substantial change budget available
* Minimal internal politics due to prior stakeholder alignment
* Focus on customer-centric, user-focused design from day one
Candidate Profile
* Strong background in solutions architecture (applications, cloud, security)
* Experience in modernizing legacy systems into microservices
* Deep knowledge of design patterns, cloud infrastructure, and security
* Experience in the Insurance industry, preferably Life Insurance
* Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
This role combines strategic influence with hands-on architectural work, working alongside Business Architects to guide the technical direction of your domain.
