About your role:
You will be a key member of the Data Engineering team, designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and models. Your work will support Data Analysts, Management Information teams, and Data Science initiatives by ensuring data integrity, availability, and accessibility, shaping data infrastructure for critical decisions and innovative solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
* Data Pipeline Development: Create and implement ETL pipelines supporting data integration from diverse sources into British Gas Data Estate.
* Data Product Engineering: Collaborate with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to develop analytics and machine learning solutions.
* Data Quality: Conduct audits and validation to maintain data accuracy and reliability.
* Data Architecture: Design and sustain data infrastructure to meet organizational needs.
* Optimization: Improve data retrieval and storage performance while controlling costs.
* Technical Support: Provide assistance and resolve issues related to data systems.
* Documentation: Keep records of data engineering procedures and best practices.
Requirements:
* Extensive expertise in data engineering with experience in scalable data pipelines and models, data modelling, and warehousing.
* Proficiency in cloud services and tools like AWS, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Hadoop, Spark.
* Programming skills in Python, PySpark, Scala.
* Experience mentoring less experienced Data Engineers.
