Job responsibilities This job description outlines the employees normal duties, workload and important non-clinical roles undertaken within paid work time. An element of flexibility between both parties, for example regarding working later when busy and leaving early when not so busy and for childcare reasons, can be mutually agreed. Some home-working may be available if mutually beneficial. This plan is therefore subject to review and should be used as a guideline. Job Description The daily arrangements for your salaried GP work sessions are as follows: Morning Session and Afternoon sessions between the times of 08.00 and 18.30 These can be adjusted to suit. Working days: To be agreed with the practice Total of average weekly sessions: 4-6 Number of appointments: 12 appointments per session Appointments may include telephone consultation, e consult and face to face appointments and may include visits that arise from a telephone consultation. Individual clinicians are expected to take responsibility for their clinics running to time and corresponding with colleagues when this is not possible, including informing Reception. Where needed additional catch-up slots can be incorporated into sessions to assist. Duties The clinical workload of the Surgery is shared by all clinicians. The salaried GP is expected to take part in the share of clinical duties including the list below. The needs of the patient population and medical practice should be taken into consideration, meaning this list is not exhaustive and is subject to review and amendment by mutual agreement. Clinical Duties Telephone appointments, including e consult, face to face appointments that result from initial telephone triage or directly booked face to face appointments according to an agreed practice protocol, visits that arise from telephone appointments, dealing with queries from patients or other health care professionals in the form of tasks, telephone calls, instant messages or direct conversation. Duty Days- A Duty Dr day pro rata according to the rest of the GP team. We will agree days with you in advance and planned at least 6 weeks ahead where possible. Home Visits- These are will arise as a result of a telephone triage call, if patient appropriate and are likely to be very low numbers or could be arranged by the clinician with allowed time in the surgery session. Administration/Paperwork/Patient list This will arise directly from your own caseload. You will be responsible for your own patient associated referrals, correspondence, administration, results and paperwork. This will be reviewed regularly. QoF & Clinical Read coding Opportunistic and Ad-Hoc QoF monitoring, ensuring accurate clinical read coding, using templates where available, to assist with Practice contractual compliance and monitoring. You are responsible for ensuring that you are familiar with the protocols and procedures surrounding the collection of data invoicing for private or NHS chargeable items (eg QOF, Enhanced Services) to ensure that the Practice is reimbursed accordingly. Ardens templates should be used as appropriate to ensure accurate data quality in consultation. Team Meetings You will be expected to attend relevant practice team meetings essential to the delivery of team based care and to take part in discussing clinical practice standards, developing practice protocols, mutual professional support for individual practitioners, audit, significant event analysis and meetings with PCN colleagues such as our PCN social prescribers and clinical pharmacists. There will also be multidisciplinary team and educational meetings to attend. Some meetings, if prolonged, may require adjustments to clinical workload in advance. CPD and Support Personal CPD You will be expected to keep up to date with all Practice Protocols and Policies associated with your job role. Professional CPD is expected to be maintained by you as part of the revalidation process. The Practice supports personal CPD and you are entitled to 1 week pro rata according to length of contract. This may include a mix of meetings and events in or out of the practice, either in private study or attending educational events. Mentoring- An experienced GP will be your mentor. This will be a monthly 1-hour mentoring session.
