Key Responsibilities 1. Material Preparation * Interpret engineering drawings (GA, detail, isometric). * Mark, cut, and profile plates/sections using plasma cutters, oxy-fuel, or CNC machinery. * Form components via rolling, pressing, or bending (≤5mm tolerance). 2. Fabrication & Assembly * Assemble structures (beams, vessels, pipework) using jigs/fixtures. * Tack-weld components for alignment prior to final welding. * Perform thermal straightening to rectify distortions. 3. Welding * Execute MAG, TIG, or MMA welding (if coded) to BS EN ISO 9606 standards. * Weld materials including carbon steel (S355), stainless (316L), duplex. 4. Quality & Safety * Conduct self-inspections (measurements, weld appearance). * Follow COSHH (fume control), LOLER (lifting equipment), and PUWER. * Use PPE: Respirators, welding masks (auto-darkening), flame-resistant overalls
