Senior Cardiac Physiologist - Cardiac Rhythm Management

Lister Hospital is home to two state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheter Labs, offering a full range of interventional procedures and device implantations. We are committed to continually expanding our services and advancing the scope of practice to enhance both our physiologists' roles and patient care experience.
Our current invasive physiology team is small but dynamic & growing. The team includes three accredited Band 7 Physiologists, two Band 6 Physiologists in training, three Band 5 Physiologists gaining experience across all aspects of invasive cardiology, two apprentices, and one team member pursuing the equivalence pathway for registration. We actively encourage and support all invasive Physiologists to achieve device-based accreditation.

Main duties of the job
Promote high standards of professional practice and high quality care and delivery within Trust and departmentfollowing departmental policies, protocols and guidelines.
Demonstrate established clinical skills and knowledge in caring for cardiology patients.
Be a competent practitioner in invasive cardiology, able to independently perform routine and complex diagnostic invasive procedures and ambulatory cardiac investigations without supervision.
Supervise and train other cardiac physiologists
Monitor and maintain quality of services within invasive cardiology & device management.
Willingness to develop further specialist and advanced practical skills.Assist in managing resources efficiently and effectively, ensuring the smooth running of a quality service.
To actively encourage and develop a multidisciplinary approach to cardiac care.
To maintain an interest in the profession, and knowledge of new techniques and protocols; attending courseswhere necessary, in line with the services demands.
Remain professional at all times, liaise with other clinical teams and maintain good public relations on a one to one basis with the general public and other interest groups.
Demonstrates empathy when dealing with patients in distressing conditions

Qualifications / Training
* BSc Clinical Physiology or recognised precursor
* Immediate Life Support
* Accredited Member of the Society of Cardiological Science and Technology or equivalent
* RCCP registered
* Professional practice Part I & Part II
* ALS
Previous Experience
* Post qualification experience within cardiology
* Understanding of management in relation to finance and management
Skills
* Able to relate and communicate with staff at all levels and from different professions
* Able to communicate complex information effectively in a precise and timely manner
* Ability to overcome language barriers
* Evidence of good communication skills, both written and spoken.
* Good interpersonal skills
* Experience of and demonstrable skills in the first line management
Knowledge
* Demonstrable sound knowledge in the full range of skills within technical cardiology. Broad experience and competence maintained in noninvasive procedures e.g. exercise tolerance testing, ECG rhythm management, and invasive procedures e.g. diagnostics, PPCI, PPM implantation & pacing clinics.
* Awareness and understanding of current health issues and in particular to demonstrate a good understanding of CHD services and recent initiatives
* Basic computer skills
* High level of co-ordination and manual dexterity
* Good team worker. Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
* Previous supervisory responsibilities
* Leadership and motivational skills
* Experience of cardiology patient databases, Lorenzo, CRIS PACS.
* Experience of GE ETT equipment's systems, spacelabs pathfinder, and holter. QMAPP Heamodynamic systems
* Teaching & presentation skills
* Previously involved in delivering formal training
Other requirements
* Participate in cross site cover
* Participate in the 24/7 service, including shifts, weekend, nights and on-call as rota
* Experience and evidence of engagement around equality, diversity and inclusion issues in relation to policy, service development and service delivery in respect of both services to users and the management of staff
