The Role:
SJL Insurance is seeking a Telephone Account Manager to join its Broker Development team. While previous insurance experience is desirable, it is not essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Business Development environment, supporting the continued growth of our broker relationships. The role offers excellent exposure to financial lines, alongside the chance to build strong market knowledge and develop valuable industry expertise for candidates with the right skills and ambition.
As a Telephone Account Manager, you will:
* Proactively build, develop, and manage broker relationships to promote SJL’s proposition and generate new business in line with agreed targets
* Drive growth in new business enquiries across the broker panel
* Utilise strong telephone-based relationship management skills to clearly communicate SJL’s offering and align it to clients’ needs
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the SJL Broker CRM system, capturing key data and insights across a range of metrics
* Support the Broker Development Manager in identifying and developing growth opportunities within the existing broker panel
* Re-engage dormant brokers to increase lead generation and expand SJL’s reach across the UK
Essential Experience & Attributes
* Proven ability to manage and liaise with brokers across multiple stages and tasks simultaneously
* Strong team player with the confidence to work independently when required
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and quick to learn new systems and technologies
* Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with businesses over the phone
* Self-motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic, with a collaborative approach to work
* Demonstrable experience in sales and/or customer service environments
* High level of attention to detail, with strong written and verbal accuracy and organisational skills
* Effective workload management, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines consistently
* Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear and professional letters, emails, and reports
* Confident communicator across multiple channels, including telephone, written correspondence, and face-to-face interaction
* Solid understanding of a broad range of insurance products and current market conditions
* Working knowledge of FCA regulations, as well as GDPR and IDD requirements
* Familiarity with internal IT systems and insurance quotation platforms
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning
