Overview
We are looking for a Head of Assessment, IELTS to join our IELTS Delivery team, to support the delivery of a valid test and a valid result to every IELTS test taker, on time, every time. In this key role, you will oversee the day-to-day management and operation of a team of Assessment and Validation colleagues focused on test content production, results determination and the maintenance of test standards to help achieve Cambridge University Press and Assessment's (CUP&A) mission. You will also contribute to the broader management of the IELTS Delivery team. You will collaborate across the IELTS partnership — Cambridge University Press and Assessment, British Council, IDP Education Australia and IELTS USA. You will play a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance and test security while ensuring the accuracy, comparability, and fairness of test scores. This role supports CUP&A’s ambition to deliver a world‑leading language assessment.

Responsibilities
* Overseeing the production and calibration of IELTS test content so that it meets required standards of quality and accuracy and is produced efficiently and cost effectively
* Ensuring fitness for purpose of marking, results determination and results accuracy
* Ensuring adherence to test security measures related to the production of test content and results determination
* Identifying and managing risks and issues associated with test content production and results determination
* Ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance, logging and managing operational incidents, producing management information on risks and issues
* Leading the IELTS Delivery (Assessment) team of approximately 45 people and overseeing recruitment, onboarding, performance management, professional development, succession planning and career progression of team members
Qualifications
* Extensive knowledge of language assessment theory and practice (preferably to Masters' level)
* A deep understanding of the IELTS test construct and ecosystem and the operational processes needed to produce test content at scale
* Extensive, practical knowledge of the security measures needed to protect test and results validity
* Highly numerate with strong analytical skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Effective planning, co-ordination, prioritisation and decision-making skills
* Experience of designing, managing and improving operational processes
