Practice Manager

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 DOE + Benefits
An established and growing law firm is seeking an experienced Practice Manager with a strong legal background to oversee the day-to-day operations of the practice and support its continued growth and development.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an individual with previous experience within a solicitors' practice who can combine operational management, compliance oversight, and people leadership to ensure the firm continues to operate efficiently and profitably.
The successful candidate will work closely with the firm's Directors and senior leadership team, playing a pivotal role in the strategic direction and ongoing success of the business.
The Role
You will be responsible for the operational management of the firm, ensuring all departments are supported effectively while maintaining high standards of compliance, client service, and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing the day-to-day operations of the law firm
* Working closely with Directors to support the firm's growth strategy
* Ensuring compliance with SRA regulations and internal policies
* Overseeing office management, administration, and operational functions
* Supporting recruitment, onboarding, staff retention, and performance management
* Assisting with budgeting, financial reporting, and operational performance monitoring
* Implementing and improving systems, procedures, and workflows
* Managing supplier relationships and external service providers
* Supporting risk management and regulatory compliance processes
* Monitoring departmental performance and operational efficiency
* Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the business
* Promoting a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace culture
Candidate Requirements
Essential
* Previous experience as a Practice Manager, Legal Operations Manager, Compliance Manager, or similar senior role within a law firm
* Strong legal sector background with a good understanding of law firm operations
* Knowledge of SRA regulations, compliance, and risk management
* Excellent leadership and people management skills
* Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
* Exceptional organisational and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Desirable
* Experience supporting HR, finance, or compliance functions
* Experience implementing legal technology or case management systems
* Previous involvement in law firm growth, mergers, or strategic projects
* Management qualifications or professional certifications
