Job Description:
Delivering cutting edge technology and direct support to the front line, our Field Service Engineers are so much more. The Naval Communications Messaging and Support teams are looking for a Naval Communications Support Engineer to join us in Southampton. The team are looking for a driven individual capable of working independently as well as integrating into a close-knit team. The role would be split between Southampton and customer locations.
You will;
1. Support product development and in-service support
2. Have responsibility for Integration, test and acceptance
3. Design support solutions including key documentation
4. Provide field support at customer locations (UK and abroad)
5. Remotely support deployed units
What you’ll bring
Key Experience and Skills:
6. Naval Communications systems, including external and internal comms
7. Operator or maintainer experience in warships or submarines
8. Familiarity with the following:System networking technologyRF bearing equipmentCryptographyMessage handling systems such as MPS2000Diagnostics and rectification of communications systemsTechnical documentation and report writing
9. Previous experience within a defence environment
Qualifications:
10. HNC or equivalent relevant experience
Additional Expectations:
11. Field service engineering work would often be expected to be off-site, requiring travel
12. A full driving licence
13. Due to the nature of our team, a full medical would be required for potential deployment to military platforms
14. Advanced MS OFFICE skills essential, MS Word skills with advanced knowledge of styles and formatting, paragraph numbing, creation of linked pdfs. Good graphical skills using PowerPoint or Visio.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
