The Opportunity The Head of Finance and Practice Management Systems is a senior leadership role responsible for the management, overseeing, operational excellence, and continuous improvement of the firm’s finance and practice management suite of applications. This role ensures that the systems such as Aderant Expert, the Intapp and Emburse suite of applications, and their integrations support the firm's strategic ambitions, efficient business processes, and align with the firm’s enterprise architecture and transformation priorities. The role comprises the key day-to-day interface between Business Finance, IT, NBI and Practice Group leadership to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient business process solutions. Key Responsibilities: Leadership Proactively support the development and execution of the firm's finance and practice management systems, "FPMS", roadmap, ensuring alignment with firmwide transformation initiatives and enterprise architecture standards. Guide the integration of core systems (e.g. Expert, Intapp, Emburse) to support consistent, reliable, and efficient financial and operational processes. Represent FPMS in governance forums, ensuring systems are designed to support long-term business strategy. Working with the FPMS Business analysis t team, chair and co-ordinate Product Owner forums to assist with prioritisation of analysis activities. This role should lead, motivate and foster a culture of cross team collaboration. Business as Usual Operational Activities Participate in the FPMS Agile Delivery ceremonies including stand up and sprint planning and pre planning prioritisation. Participate in the FPMS BA (Business Analysis) Forum. Manage the relationship between FPMS and the IT regional BRM team leads. Working with the FPMS BA team, and other teams as needed, act as a strategic voice on how the FPMS suite can best support business process requirements. Be the lead for HSF Kramer's Global Time Recording Guidelines. Vendor & Commercial Management Maintain key operational relationships with key vendors (e.g. Aderant, Intapp and Emburse), to ensure service levels, commercial alignment, and innovation partnership activities are aligned with the firm's needs. Lead contract negotiations, SOW reviews, and performance evaluations in collaboration with the Director of BI & Finance and Practice Management Systems and Procurement. Monitor vendor roadmaps and market trends, including attending conferences as relevant, to inform internal strategy and investment planning. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Act as the firm's point of contact for key stakeholder escalations, working closely with regional finance leads, IT, and practice management stakeholders. Facilitate and lead cross-functional collaboration with senior stakeholders cross the firm to ensure system enhancements meet operational and strategic needs. Programme Delivery & Change Enablement Proactively support major transformation initiatives involving FPMS platforms, including cloud migrations, automation, and integrations with the firm’s broader technology ecosystem. Ensure readiness for go-lives, including change and comms activities, user training, data validation, and business continuity planning working closely with the delivery teams, including the Programme Management Office. Proactively involved in decision making and management of risks and issues for the FPMS programme and project level activities. Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Proven experience (minimum of 3 years) supporting finance and practice management systems in a professional services or legal environment. Deep understanding of the professional services sector. Deep understanding of practice management platforms (e.g. Aderant Expert), financial operations, and legal billing processes. Excellent stakeholder management and vendor negotiation skills. Able to influence senior stakeholders. Experience with large-scale system upgrades, cloud transitions, and cross-functional programme delivery working in an Agile delivery environment. Experience working in a global business or a global role would be beneficial but is not essential. Ability to establish strong relationships with stakeholders across a global firm. Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal, effective at all levels. Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities to meet the needs of the business. Ability to cope with conflicting demands and meet deadlines.
