We are looking for an experienced Waste Site Manager to join our team, to manage our Manston Road Depot and other buildings assigned to the Waste and Recycling service in Thanet District Council. This person will also have responsibility for the disposal of waste, which is handled by Kent County Council. Our historic seaside towns of Ramsgate, Margate and Broadstairs and surrounding villages are rich in heritage and opportunity. The ideal candidate will have experience working (ideally in a supervisory role) in a waste site and be keen to implement change and try new ways of working. Knowledge of disposal/ recycling routes is also key as we look to maximise our recycling potential within Thanet. The successful applicant will also need to be able to work closely with other departments to ensure that the residents of Thanet receive the best possible service. Main Tasks and Accountabilities: Be the named Certificate of Technical Competence (CoTC) holder for the Manston Road Depot. Line manage the team responsible for the running of the depot. Ensure that the depot operates at the highest levels of Health and Safety and regulatory standards. Be responsible for any other buildings that fall under the Cleansing Team, such as public toilets. Work with counterparts at Kent County Council to ensure the efficient disposal of the waste we collect and ensure that we maximise on recycling. Be the point of contact for the Environment Agency, Health and Safety Executive, and any other regulatory bodies. Be the onsite lead for the development of the Manston Road Depot site. Serve as the primary point of contact for all visitors and contractors visiting the site, and maintain and develop relevant processes accordingly. Be a figurehead for an inclusive, positive and respectful culture throughout the department. Strive to identify areas of improvement and implement changes to achieve them. Be available, if and when needed, to cover the roles of other members of the Waste Management Team. Lead on relevant projects and report writing as required. When appropriate, attend public and internal meetings, including the corporate management team, to present information/ideas specific to your area of responsibility. Work in conjunction with other TDC departments/ officers to ensure best practice and service delivery across the authority. Represent the Council in meetings with members of the public and or elected officials. Be a figurehead for a culture of Health and Safety throughout the organisation.
