Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Payroll team
We're looking for a Payroll Support Officer to join our high profile, busy and dynamic Payroll team, focusing on ensuring that employees are paid the correct salary and benefits and that employees are added to the payroll when they are recruited and removed from the payroll when they leave.
You will be part of a team that prides themselves on delivering an excellent customer service, ensuring the delivery of an accurate, timely and customer focused payroll service.
With a solution focused approach, you will support all payroll and pension related enquiries and issues. We work alongside our HR function to ensure that we can deliver improvements to our services and operational delivery.
The Payroll team has recently experienced huge changes in staffing and processes in line with statutory requirements, continuous improvement work and external audit feedback. It has been transformed into a solid team with an exceptional work ethic and high morale. Payroll continues to streamline and develop processes which will prove invaluable in meeting the needs of an expanding headcount at Companies House. Links with internal stakeholders are continually being established and enhanced, to allow the day to day work to process effectively.

Job description
As a Payroll Support Officer you'll:
* Handle the administration of payroll changes including change of hours and work patterns.
* Ensure the right payments are deducted for childcare and cycle to work schemes.
* Day to day payroll and pension administration.
* Update annual leave.
* Work closely with a variety of stakeholders across Companies House.
* Update customers queries and service now requests.
* Resolve payroll queries including flexi and overtime.
* Have a continuous improvement ethos, you'll look for ways to develop and improve our processes.
Person specification
We are looking for the following experience, which will be assessed at sift and interview. Please refer to the bullet points in bold below when writing your personal statement, including examples to evidence your level of skill.
We are looking for a successful candidate with:
* Fantastic attention to detail, strong numerical skills and enjoyment in working with numbers.
* Confident communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders often explaining complex rules, both verbally and written.
* Experience of using own initiative and working independently, whilst also enjoying working as part of a team.
* Analytical skills.
* Experience of using Microsoft Excel.
* Strong collaboration skills.
* The ability to prioritise work daily, depending on business needs.
* Previous Payroll experience is desirable including experience of payroll systems, processes and statutory requirements, but is not essential.

You will be aligned to our Cardiff, where we are currently using a hybrid approach to the way we work. Our approach to hybrid working provides opportunities for you to be adaptable in the way you work so that you can achieve a healthy balance between your work and home life. The degree of choice you have will depend on business need, your role and your day-to-day work activities and will be discussed at offer stage.

What will the process look like?

* We may raise the score required if we receive a high number of applications.
* Successful candidates from the sift stage will be invited to attend an interview at our Cardiff offices.
