Location – Crewe, this will include travel across the ATC network (Tyne Yard, Scarborough, Eastleigh, Cambridge and Bristol)

What will the role of Training and Competence Manager include?
4. Responsible for working with Operational and Engineering Teams to ensure a robust CMS is in place, kept under regular review and compliance is managed through regular review of KPIs produced by T&C team within a formal and recorded forum.
5. Ensure operational managers are aware of and undertake their duties in respect of training and competency compliance management by maintaining a RACI for end-to-end process and ensure fit for purpose systems and processes are also in place.
6. Delivery of training and competency assessments in person when required.
7. Responsible for development and delivery of T&C budget, ensuring regular review to identify actuals v budget variance and that action plans to address are in place and deliver improvements.
8. Responsible for ensuring a training and competency calendar is in place, up to date and optimised to support all locations training and competency needs across the whole of ATC.
9. Support the Engineering Team with technical development training where required.
10. Responsible for capturing safety critical training requirements for new business opportunities in the training calendar and delivery to the mobilization plan timescales.
11. Responsible for ensuring changes to standards are incorporated into training material and competency assessments.
12. Responsible for day-to-day management of T&C team, including regular one to ones and personal development plans, ensuring that all training and assessing qualifications and capabilities meet the business needs.
13. Work with the operations delivery team to ensure that an effective network of trainers, assessors and verifiers is in place to support the engineering competence assessment process.
What will I need to be considered for the role of Training and Competence Manager?
14. Qualified to HNC or equivalent in engineering
15. Ideally engineering apprentice trained with rolling stock experience
16. Relevant assessors’ qualification
17. Certificate in Training Practice or another recognised training qualification
18. NEBOSH General Certificate or other relevant safety qualification
19. A full and valid driving license
20. IQA Assessor experience and formal qualification to Level 4 or equivalent.
21. Experience in successfully leading a training and competency team.
22. Previous experience of delivering driver training and assessments on numerous types of traction is essential.
23. Knowledge of vocational qualifications, supporting structures and awarding bodies e.g. NVQ’s, Apprenticeships.
