Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to join their expanding Information Services function. Responsibilities
* Manage the availability, operation, and upgrade of applications, systems, and storage hosted both on-premise and in the cloud.
* Maintain and administer data centre and server infrastructure to ensure confidentiality, integrity, security, and availability of services across their lifecycle.
* Provide support for in-life services while also acting as a technical lead on new or changed service requests.
* Participate in a 24x7 on‑call rota to ensure continuity of critical operational systems.
* Work closely with external suppliers and engineers on system upgrades and infrastructure changes.
* Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity decision‑making when required.
* Create and manage change requests in line with ITIL change management processes.
* Support project delivery alongside business‑as‑usual operational responsibilities.
Requirements
Technical Knowledge & Experience
* Strong experience working within an ITIL‑based service environment.
* Proven experience supporting both BAU services and project‑based infrastructure change.
* Experience with:
* Microsoft Windows Server (2012–2022) and Windows 11
* Office 365 / Exchange
* Active Directory and privileged access management
* Network security gateways and access controls
* Load balancing technologies
* Backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions
* SAN and NAS storage technologies
Skills & Abilities
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, with the ability to evaluate multiple solutions and recommend optimal approaches.
* Confident communicator, able to engage clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* Ability to work effectively with third‑party suppliers while maintaining data security and integrity.
* Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
* Ability to remain effective in high‑pressure or unexpected situations.
