Overview
Procurement & Stores Manager role at AIMCH. Based at the Tunstead Cement Plant in Buxton, Derbyshire, the role oversees regional procurement activities, manages a significant volume of external expenditure, and contributes to the implementation and performance of national procurement strategies. You will source across categories including operational services, estates, logistics and capital projects, ensuring procurement processes are streamlined, compliant, and deliver value with a strong emphasis on supplier performance, cost efficiency, risk management, and effective transaction handling. The role also leads the stores team, maintains inventory accuracy, and ensures compliance with health & safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
* Procurement Strategy & Execution
o Deliver regional procurement strategy aligned with national frameworks
o Lead sourcing and working capital initiatives
o Adapt national policies to regional needs
* Supplier & Stakeholder Management
o Manage key supplier relationships and performance
o Drive vendor consolidation and preferred supplier use
o Collaborate with regional leaders to embed procurement practices
* Cost & Cash Flow Management
o Achieve savings through pricing and spend control
o Improve cash flow by enforcing payment terms and reducing payables
* Purchase to Pay (P2P)
o Oversee high-volume P2P processes
o Enhance match rates and reduce manual transactions
* Compliance & Controls
o Ensure policy and reporting compliance
o Maintain system access and authorisation controls
* Reporting & Performance
o Deliver monthly reports and track procurement KPIs
* People & Process Development
o Support team development and lead procurement communications
* Inventory & Stores
o Manage daily store operations and compliance
o Control obsolete stock and implement lean inventory systems
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation, with a background in managing procurement at a regional or business unit level. Proven success in delivering cost savings, mitigating risk, and driving process improvements is essential, along with experience in capital procurement, shutdown tendering, inventory control, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.
Essential Qualifications
* Degree in a technical or commercial discipline (e.g., Engineering, Business, Supply Chain)
* Strong understanding of procurement and supply chain principles
* Proficiency in SAP or equivalent ERP systems
* Demonstrated knowledge of financial controls and procurement compliance
Desirable Qualifications
* MCIPS (Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or working towards it
* Additional certifications in project management (e.g PRINCE2, PMP)
* Training in Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies
Location: Buxton, Derbyshire. The site is accessible from Macclesfield, Sheffield, Matlock, Chesterfield, Rotherham, Huddersfield, Oldham, Stockport, Warrington and surrounding areas.
