An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bristol City Council’s Community Learning Team as a Development Worker.
The team provides high quality, community-based courses for adults with few or no formal qualifications and/or those facing multiple barriers in life.
You will be part of a vibrant team of workers passionate about education and the role it can play in enabling adults to achieve.
Development Workers have specific patches in the city and may also work within multi partner, city-wide projects where education has a role. For example, supporting asylum seekers with a programme of English classes or helping learners progress by sourcing volunteering or work placements.
You will liaise with community partners across the city so the ability to network and travel is a must. Together you will identify courses that will support the community or specific individuals, working to funding targets and educational standards. Development workers source venues, recruit learners, supervise tutors, and help manage the quality and effective running of courses. Therefore, it is important to be responsive, organised, and flexible.
Community Learning’s main base is at The Park Centre in South Bristol, a dynamic community hub There is a community café on the site and ample car parking. We also work out of Stoke Lodge in Sea Mills.
Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
