Location: M9 area of Manchester (Cheetham Hill)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Start Date: ASAP

Position: Full Time, Long Term

Monarch Education is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join the support team at a large, three-form entry primary school located in the M9 area of Manchester (Cheetham Hill). This is a full-time, long-term position required to start as soon as possible (ASAP).

The school has a specialist provision on-site for pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and is looking for a skilled individual to provide targeted support to identified pupils, promoting positive behaviour and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

About The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and social development of pupils who require assistance with their behaviour and emotional regulation. Your responsibilities will include:

* Providing tailored 1:1 support to pupils with identified Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
* Leading or assisting with small group support sessions focused on developing positive behaviours, social skills, and emotional literacy.
* Working collaboratively with the class teacher and the wider SEND support team to implement behaviour support plans and strategies.
* Identifying and addressing barriers to learning related to behaviour and emotional well-being.
* Building positive and trusting relationships with vulnerable pupils to encourage engagement and progress.
* Promoting a calm and nurturing environment while clearly defining expectations and boundaries.
* Monitoring and recording pupil progress and reporting on the effectiveness of interventions.
* Contributing to the overall positive ethos and inclusive culture of the school.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a candidate with a proven track record of working effectively with children or young people who exhibit challenging behaviours or have SEND, particularly those with SEMH needs. While school-based experience is beneficial, we welcome applications from individuals with relevant experience gained in other settings. The ideal candidate will possess:

* Experience working directly with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), specifically those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or those requiring assistance in promoting positive behaviour.
* Relevant experience from backgrounds such as Youth Work, Social Care, Residential Care, or Sports Coaching is highly valued.
* A calm, patient, and nurturing approach with the ability to establish clear expectations and boundaries.
* Confidence in building positive and effective relationships with pupils from diverse and potentially vulnerable backgrounds.
* The ability to support pupils' progress both socially and academically.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with pupils, staff, and potentially parents/carers.
* Resilience and the ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism.
* Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday, from 08:20 to 15:30 during term time only.

* A specialist provision on-site catering specifically for pupils with SEMH needs, providing a supportive environment for both pupils and staff.
* A large and experienced SEND support team, offering a collaborative and supportive network for the successful candidate.
* Excellent transport links, being easily accessible by bus and train.
* On-site car parking available for staff who drive.
