Site Electrical Commissioning Engineer
UK Power & Energy Project | Contract
We're supporting a major UK power and energy build and are seeking an experienced Site Electrical Commissioning Engineer to lead electrical commissioning activities through a critical delivery phase.
This is a site‑based, hands‑on role suited to engineers who enjoy ownership, coordination and technical problem‑solving in live commissioning environments.
Key Details
Contract: Circa 4 months (extension likely)
Start: ASAP
Rotation: 10 hours per day | 10 on / 4 off or 5/2 (Mon - Fri)
Engagement: Ltd Company - Outside IR35
Rates: £500 per day
Location: Northwest UK
Eligibility: Full UK working rights required
The Role
You'll take responsibility for the planning and execution of electrical commissioning activities, including:
Developing and executing commissioning plans, procedures and schedules
Leading inspections, testing and functional performance verification of electrical systems
Reviewing drawings and technical documentation for compliance with codes and standards
Coordinating commissioning activities with project, construction and OEM teams
Managing issue resolution, punch lists and system close‑out
Producing clear commissioning records, test reports and handover documentation
Coordinating with permit, LOTO and site safety administrators
Maintaining strict adherence to EHS and permit‑to‑work requirementsYou'll act as a key technical interface on site, supporting installation teams through to successful system handover.
About You
Proven experience in electrical commissioning within power generation or heavy process environments
Strong knowledge of powertrain and balance‑of‑plant systems
Degree‑qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent); PE / chartered status advantageous
Confident working with OEMs, contractors and client teams
Strong problem‑solving and documentation skills
Comfortable operating in fast‑paced, site‑driven environments
Full UK working rights
