Hales Group are thrilled to be working with family run business in Mildenhall, spanning over 40 years in business! We are on the lookout for to help find them a Sheet Metal Worker. Ideally you will have experience and be skilled in using Brake Presses and be capable of hand drilling, tapping, assembly and have knowledge of Health and Safety practices.
This is a full-time role, with the opportunity to gain long term career progression and training opportunities.
Salary
£16.25 - £16.80 Per hour, depending on experience
Hours
Working hours between 07:30 - 16:30 Monday to Friday (early finish on Friday's)
Duties Include
Set up and operate Trumpf and Amada press-brake machines to bend and form sheet metal components according to specifications.
Perform routine checks to ensure accuracy and maintain quality standards.
Carry out hand drilling, tapping, counter-sinking, and counter-boring tasks on metal parts.
Ensure holes and threads are produced to exact tolerances for assembly requirements.
Assemble sheet metal components using hand tools and fixtures.
Follow technical drawings and instructions to achieve precise assembly.
Install various fasteners (e.g., rivets, studs, nuts) using manual or powered tools.
Verify secure fitting and alignment of all components.
Operate fly press machinery for punching, forming, or shaping metal parts.
Maintain safe working practices and monitor equipment performance.
Inspect finished components for accuracy and quality before dispatch.
Adhere to health and safety guidelines across all departments. Skills and Attributes
Experience of working in a similar environment would be advantageous, along with sheet metal experience.
Able to understand instructions and guidance with a good work ethic.
Can confidently read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
A candidate who as an eye for detail and can work with precision, care and consistency.
Someone who works well independently and as a team player.
Competent at completing paperwork and job sheets.
A willingness to assist where required in other areas of the engineering workshop.
