Theatre Administrative Clerical Support

An opportunity has arisen to join the Surgical Day Unit and Theatre Department in the administrative team.

The successful candidate will provide administrative and reception support to the Surgical Day Unit and Theatre Team. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, the candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to show empathy and understanding when dealing with patients.

The candidate will have the ability to manage their own workload and will be expected to be experienced in the use of Microsoft Packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook. The successful candidate will undertake general office duties including filing, scanning, photocopying, data entry onto the Patient Administration System (PAS) as well as the Theatre Management system, typing documentation and dealing with reception and telephone enquiries effectively and efficiently.

The candidate may be required to provide cover for other members of the administrative team. The position is for full time, working 37.5 hours per week between 7:15am and 6:15pm.

Main duties of the job

Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Surgical Day Unit and Theatre Department which includes general reception duties including filing, photocopying and scanning. Dealing with reception and telephone enquiries effectively and efficiently.

Provide a reception service acting as first point of contact for patients and visitors who attend the department.

To input all data regarding admissions and discharges onto the Patient Administration System (PAS) and also the Theatre Management System. Work flexibly within the team and provide support to colleagues.

To maintain stock of all printed forms and relevant documentation for the department.

To work alongside other wards and teams to ensure high standards of patient care are delivered.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification


Qualifications

* NVQ Level 2 in customer care/admin or equivalent experience
* RSA II Typing / Word processing or equivalent
* ECDL


Experience

* Proficient in word processing and knowledge of other Microsoft packages.
* Knowledge of office equipment and systems
* Previous office experience
* Knowledge of Medical Terminology
* Experience working within the healthcare environment
