Job Overview
The role is all about supporting the team overseeing the commercial governance of our contracts with key consultancies and contractors – a vital role in the success of our projects and our ability to maximise returns on our budget and demonstrate value for money. You will also help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long‑term collaborative partnership arrangements that deliver for both of us and society.
The Commercial Assurance & Framework Management Team provides country‑wide support to our Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community, championing effective governance and commercial assurance to achieve the very best value for money. This role will develop excellent relationships internally and externally and become an expert on contractual and commercial interpretations within a high‑performing team.
Responsibilities
* Support the Commercial Assurance & Framework Management Team in overseeing the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors
* Set up and manage pathfinder programmes to embed best practice and develop long‑term partnership arrangements
* Provide country‑wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams and the Project Management community
* Develop and maintain excellent internal and external relationships and become an expert on commercial and contractual interpretations
* Participate in training and incident‑response duties as required
Qualifications
* Level 3 or equivalent education (e.g., A‑Level qualifications)
* Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills
* Stakeholder management experience
* Strong data and document management skills
* Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, take proportionate risks, make informed decisions and deliver value for money
* Administrative skills – strong organisation, minute‑taking and report‑drafting
* Willingness to shadow, undertake long‑term professional qualifications (such as NEC training, CIPS) and confidence to ask questions for development
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification preferred; working toward status with a recognised professional body (ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS, RICS) desirable
* Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme)
