The Role
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Fabricator Welder to join our Engineering and Fabrication team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Christchurch, offering the opportunity to work on a wide range of engineering and fabrication projects, including heavy transport, civil engineering, and equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform high-quality welding (TIG, MIG, ARC) and fabrication on stainless steel, steel, aluminium, and copper.
2. Interpret and work from engineering drawings.
3. Operate plasma cutters, brake press, guillotines, and various hand tools.
4. Assist in assembling, dismantling, and maintaining machinery and plant equipment.
5. Conduct pipe fitting, gas cutting, pressure testing, and grinding.
6. Maintain a clean and safe workspace and complete daily equipment checks.
Skills and Experience Required
1. Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Fabricator Welder or Fitter/Welder (preferred).
2. Qualification in Engineering – Fabrication (Level 4) or trade welding certificate.
3. Experience with a wide range of welding techniques and fabrication tools.
4. Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings.
5. Strong knowledge of health and safety practices in workshop and construction environments.
6. A current New Zealand driver’s licence (or international equivalent) is preferred.
7. Training and support may be provided for the right candidate who demonstrates strong practical skills and a willingness to learn.
