Part-time Kitchen Assistant Role - Long Term

Long-term teachers are working with Alternative Provision Gloucester, seeking an experienced kitchen assistant to join their team on a permanent basis.
Applicants should have previous experience in a school setting, particularly in a specialist environment working with students with special educational needs. These include Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs and managing challenging behaviour. A Level 2 qualification in Food Safety is preferred.
You will work Monday to Friday, from 11am to 2pm. There may be opportunities for additional hours, including support in after-school and breakfast clubs.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare the dining area for service, including moving and setting up furniture and trolleys, cleaning, and tidying after service.
2. Prepare the service area, hot cupboards, and other equipment as instructed.
3. Wash dishes, cutlery, tumblers, jugs, serving utensils, containers, tables, and other catering equipment.
4. Clean catering areas to regulated standards as directed.
5. Assist in serving meals according to procedures.
6. Encourage social skills and good manners, ensuring safety when handling knives and forks.
7. Clean up spillages and clear tables of cutlery and crockery.
8. Wash and store food utensils and crockery efficiently.
9. Implement statutory Health and Safety policies, Environmental Health requirements, and emergency procedures.
10. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children, providing emotional support as needed.
11. Promote good behaviour and a calm atmosphere.
12. Report any misbehaviour in accordance with the school’s Behaviour Policy.
13. Address issues calmly and politely, serving as a role model.
14. Report incidents to senior staff as appropriate.
