The Opportunity
A well-established UK organisation is looking for a hands-on Infrastructure Engineer to join its growing Technology Services team. This role sits at the heart of the business, supporting and enhancing a hybrid infrastructure estate spanning on-premise data centres and Microsoft Azure.

What You'll Be Doing
Core Infrastructure & Server Management
Support and maintain Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
Manage server patching, upgrades and lifecycle activities across physical and virtual estates.
Monitor system performance, capacity and availability to ensure optimal operation.
Virtualisation
Administer and optimise VMware vSphere environments (hosts, clusters, VMs).
Ensure resilience, high availability and performance across virtual platforms.
Storage & Backup
Support enterprise storage platforms including provisioning and performance monitoring.
Manage backup platforms, scheduling and recovery testing.
Contribute to disaster recovery documentation and failover testing activities.
Azure & Hybrid Cloud
Administer Azure IaaS services including Virtual Machines, storage, networking and access controls.
Support hybrid identity configurations and integration between cloud and on-prem environments.
Apply best practice around governance, security, resilience and cost optimisation.
Security & Service Improvement
Maintain secure configurations across infrastructure platforms.
Support vulnerability remediation and compliance requirements.
Act as an escalation point for infrastructure-related incidents.
Identify opportunities for automation, monitoring improvements and operational efficiency.
Projects & Enhancements
Deliver upgrades, migrations and platform improvements.
Support infrastructure transformation and cloud roadmap initiatives.
Work closely with senior engineers and architects on strategic programmes.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Server technologies (Windows Server, AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP).
Experience administering VMware vSphere environments.
Proven experience managing patching cycles and firmware upgrades.
Experience supporting enterprise storage solutions.
Knowledge of backup technologies and recovery testing.
Exposure to Azure infrastructure services and hybrid integration.
Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across server, storage, virtualisation and cloud environments.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Desirable
PowerShell scripting for automation.
Experience with Azure patch management tools.
Exposure to enterprise backup solutions (e.g. Veeam, Rubrik or similar).
Experience participating in disaster recovery testing.
Microsoft or VMware certifications.
