Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Practical Law Corporate/Commercial (Scots and English law)
We are seeking an experienced corporate/commercial lawyer who is dual‑qualified in Scotland and England to join the Practical Law team in the UK.
About The Role
As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your specialist legal knowledge of corporate/commercial law and practice in Scotland and England to create and maintain a wide range of content and support the development of Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.
Major Responsibilities/accountabilities
* Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.
* Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
* Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
* Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer‑focused Thomson Reuters' AI‑powered legal solutions.
* Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
* Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
* Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.
About You
* Qualified as a lawyer in Scotland and in England and Wales and have substantial post‑qualification experience of working as a corporate/commercial lawyer in a law firm, in‑house or at the bar in the UK.
* Extensive experience in the following areas:
* Private M&A;
* Company formation and administration;
* Supply of goods and services terms and conditions;
* Confidentiality agreements; and
* General contract law.
* Some knowledge of partnership law.
* Strong writing skills, and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.
* A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
* Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilise various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.
* Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.
* A curious mindset, including about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, adaptable and open to change.
* Experience of using AI tools in legal work.
