Teaching Personnel is recruiting an empathetic, resilient and dedicated SEN Classroom Mentor to support a specialist education setting in the Nuneaton (CV11) area. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping children with Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and ADHD to overcome barriers, build confidence, and thrive in a supportive school environment.

The school provides a nurturing and therapeutic approach to learning, offering excellent training and continuous development for all staff.

About the Role

As an SEN Classroom Mentor, you will work directly with pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural and learning support. You will play a crucial role in helping pupils regulate their emotions, engage with learning and develop the social and communication skills needed to succeed.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups, supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom, and helping teachers create an inclusive and positive environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide targeted support to pupils with ASD, SEMH and ADHD.
* Build consistent, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and positive behaviour.
* Use de‑escalation, emotional‑regulation and trauma‑informed strategies.
* Support pupils during lessons, transitions, break times and enrichment activities.
* Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs.
* Implement strategies from EHCPs, behaviour plans and personalised support plans.
* Encourage independence, resilience and positive communication skills.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and support staff.
* Help maintain a calm, structured and safe learning environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

* Passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
* Calm, patient and emotionally resilient when supporting challenging behaviour.
* Skilled at forming positive, supportive relationships with young people.
* A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
* Adaptable, proactive and able to work as part of a team.
* Willing to learn, develop and use new therapeutic/behaviour strategies.

Experience in SEN, youth work, behaviour mentoring, mental health or social care is highly desirable, but full training is available.

Requirements

* Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
* Willingness to complete a DBS check (or provide an updated version).
* Two professional references.
* Proof of right to work in the UK.
