Overview
First Military Recruitment are seeking to appoint a Motor Vehicle Lecturer on behalf of one of our renowned clients. You will be required to engage with and inspire learners mostly aged 16-19 and studying City and Guilds qualifications, with plans to eventually introduce IMI qualifications.
You will be qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in Motor Vehicle/Automotive, with experience gained within the Motor Vehicle industry and will have some experience of teaching, training or assessing. More importantly, you will be a good communicator with a passion for Motor Vehicles. If you do not already possess a teaching qualification, the College will support you to achieve this. Our client strongly encourages applications from Ex-Military although all applications will be considered for this role.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Full time – Hours as per contract (52 Weeks per year).
2. Teach on a range of programmes in the relevant subject area, including City & Guilds and IMI courses.
3. Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and resource materials for teaching programmes.
4. Utilise IT and e-learning technology to deliver elements of the curriculum.
5. Where appropriate integrate the delivery and assessment of Functional Skills into the curriculum.
6. Prepare assessment plans and schedules and ensure students are aware of your expectations.
7. Assess students’ progress regularly including the timely marking of work and giving feedback, both written and oral.
8. Work towards the integration of students’ basic skills’ development in the delivery of teaching and learning.
9. Set targets for achievement, retention and attendance and participate in the college’s performance management programme.
10. Promote equal opportunities and implement the college’s equal opportunities policy.

12. Understand and comply with Safeguarding legislation and ensure that best practice is embedded in all working practices as required.

Skills & Qualifications
14. Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in Motor Vehicle.
15. Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET, PGCE or equivalent**) or willingness and ability to work towards a recognised teaching qualification, supported by the College.
16. Assessor award (A1 or equivalent) or willing to obtain.
17. Relevant experience in the Motor Vehicle industry.
18. Experience in hybrid/electric vehicle technology.
19. Teaching/training experience.
20. Ability to enthuse and engage with vocational learners aged 16-19.
21. Good communication skills, written and verbal.
22. Good classroom practice.
23. Good administration/organisational skills.
