Following continued success, our Chemical and Biological Treatment team is looking for a Project Engineer (DSEAR) on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of DSEAR projects with a focus on Chlorine Gas and Methanol Dosing and managing all aspects of their performance. This role also includes managing and working in hazardous environments.
Responsibilities
* Project liaison from enquiry stage to final acceptance and documentation, meeting with clients as required to discuss specific requirements and carry out site surveys.
* Instruct, direct, control and allocate work to trade operatives and apprentices, focusing on quality, productivity and safety.
* Ensure all technical information is available when required for the delivery of design and/or construction.
* Interpret and check drawings, specifications and schedules for all activities, directing works accordingly and prepare final documentation (as‑built drawings, etc.).
* Identify and resolve non‑conformance early within design and construction phases.
* Manage the design of systems and products, ensuring alignment with specifications and technical aspects.
* Complete contract documents.
* Manage project quality deliverables and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal and client quality systems.
* Input to tender, design and construction programmes including progress updates and reporting.
* Subcontractor liaison and management, including tender specification, quotation and H&S documentation review and appraisal.
* Prepare construction‑phase health and safety plans for projects with principal contractor responsibility under CDM.
Qualifications
* Degree / HND / HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Experience working in a hazardous environment, preferably in Chlorine Gas or Methanol dosing.
* Proven track record in project management, with an engineering or supervisory background.
* Strong time‑management skills, able to multitask, plan and organise workloads within a busy environment.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to follow, interpret and explain technical instructions.
* Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials common to all engineering trades, particularly mechanical and electrical engineering.
* Driven, able to work individually and with teams under your direction.
* Innovative thinking, with an ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies.
* Ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
* Full UK driving licence.
