This rewarding position offers the opportunity to support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning, building self-confidence, and developing essential life skills in a supportive classroom environment. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural challenges. Help establish a structured and positive learning environment that encourages emotional stability and academic engagement. Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to deliver personalised support plans. Encourage positive social interactions, self-esteem, and emotional resilience among pupils. Manage challenging behaviour calmly, using consistent and restorative strategies. Support teachers by monitoring pupil progress and providing constructive feedback to inform future planning. Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant: Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural difficulties, or additional learning needs. A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting pupils. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to follow guidance from teachers and adapt to changing classroom situations. An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply). A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
