Overview

About the Role: We’re looking for a Children's Residential Business Support Officer to join our Children’s Support Services within the Children and Families Department. This role provides comprehensive and flexible support to Managers, Assistant Managers, and Children’s Residential Social Care Workers (CRSCWs) across one or more residential homes. You’ll contribute to consistent service delivery and improved outcomes for young people, supporting their physical, emotional, cultural, religious, educational, and psychological needs. You’ll also manage financial systems, organise meetings, maintain records, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.


Responsibilities

* Provide comprehensive and flexible support to Managers, Assistant Managers, and CRSCWs across one or more residential homes.
* Contribute to consistent service delivery and improved outcomes for young people.
* Support young people’s physical, emotional, cultural, religious, educational, and psychological needs.
* Manage financial systems, organise meetings, maintain records, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
* Assist with business support processes in a local authority setting.
* Ensure safeguarding and confidentiality in line with policies.
* Support the delivery of services under the Immigration Act (2016) requirements; fluent English is essential.


Essential Qualifications

* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, or relevant experience demonstrating equivalent skills.


Essential Experience

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
* Experience working in a pressured, confidential environment.
* Familiarity with financial systems and case management tools.


Essential Knowledge

* Understanding of business support processes within a local authority setting.
* Awareness of safeguarding and confidentiality in children’s services.
* Knowledge of UK data protection legislation, including GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.


Essential Skills and Competencies

* Strong communication skills across various formats (face-to-face, phone, email).
* Excellent minute-taking and note-recording skills.
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and solve problems effectively.
* Commitment to continuous improvement and a customer-focused approach.
* Ability to work with discretion in a sensitive environment; strong organizational skills and ability to manage varied workloads.


Additional Information

* This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016); therefore, fluent English is essential.
* A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required.
* Working arrangements may include hybrid working; see the applicants page for Worker Types information.
* Job details: Contract Type: Permanent; Working Hours: 37 hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm; Location: Crocus Field Residential Children’s Home (Nottingham, NG2 2HN) and Woodview Children’s Home (NG3 7GB); Salary: Starting £26,824 - £27,694 per annum (pro rata for part-time).
