We are delighted to advertise an exciting opportunities for an Advanced Clinical Practitioners to join our General Surgery Department at Epsom and St Helier. You will need to have completed and passed your MSc advanced parctice pathway (evidence will be required at interview), regretably we are unable to accept applications from individuals who are undertaking their study program. You will need to be fully qualified and and to demonstrate you are practising autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner. As these are new roles in the Trust and Division, you will be pivotal in development of this post and service, hence the requirement for a fully qualified practitioner. The post holder will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families, and carers. This will encompass the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice in both an emergency and elective setting.
Main duties of the job
Undertake both elective outpatient clinics as well as supporting the emergency surgery service. Assessing individuals, families and carers, holistically using a range of different methods, such as physical assessment and history taking, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests or advanced health needs assessments.
Use their expert knowledge and clinical judgement to decide whether to refer patients for investigations and make diagnoses
Communicate effectively with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team
Decide on and carry out treatment, which may include the prescribing of
medicines, or referring patients to an appropriate specialist.
Ensure the provision of continuity of care.
Assess and evaluate with patients and / or carers, the effectiveness of the
treatment and care provided and make changes as needed.
