ONS Digital is continuing to improve its public facing digital products following the launch of the new website earlier this year. This role will work alongside the existing team to work on an ambitious roadmap to improve the publishing platform features for our users.

About the work
Who the specialist will work with
A multi-disciplinary agile team including UX designer, user researcher, back-end developer, content designer, web ops, tech arch, delivery manager and service manager
What the specialist will work on
The specialist will be working to extend the functionality of the ONS publishing platform integrated 'chart-builder' (which uses the Highcharts framework) and to improve support more widely for data visualisation tools on the website.
Work setup
Address where the work will take place Newport, South Wales
Working arrangements One day a week in the Newport office by arrangement with Service Manager.
Security clearance Disclosure Scotland security vetting.
Qualifications
Skills and experience
Essential skills and experience
* Excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript
* Experience of data visualisation Javascript frameworks (especially Highcharts and D3)
* Experience in building mobile first websites
* Worked with user research to understand requirements
* Used TDD or BDD and has experience with Mocha/Jasmine/Cucumber/Webdriver
* Sass
* Knowledge of Angular
* Templating language such as Handlebars
* REST
