Overview

East Riding of Yorkshire Council Children’s Social Care is seeking an experienced Social Worker to be based within the Bridlington Strengthening and Supporting Families Team. Bridlington is a coastal town in East Yorkshire, offering a mix of rural beauty, seaside living and community warmth. Our service area stretches from the York border across the northern part of the county, covering diverse rural and isolated communities. The role provides variety and rewarding opportunities to make a real difference in the lives of children and families. We are a well‑established team with three managers, with a mix of experience across the team and colleagues at the beginning of their social work career pathway eager to learn and develop good practice.


Responsibilities

* Provide high‑quality social work support to children and families in line with statutory duties and responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting welfare.
* Engage in statutory childcare work, including interventions with children, young people and their families under Child in Need Plans, Child Protection Plans, and Family Law legal proceedings (Public Law Care Proceedings, Private Law Proceedings) and Adoption.
* Build effective working relationships with children, parents, carers and others within a child’s network, grounded in empathy and clear communication.
* Create and maintain timely, accurate, and appropriate case records and ensure information sharing in line with policy and safeguarding requirements.
* Communicate clearly and confidently, building rapport with children, families, colleagues and partners.
* Work collaboratively within a team, support colleagues, use initiative and engage in partnership working to improve outcomes across organisational boundaries.
* Prioritise tasks, manage competing demands, meet deadlines and contribute to service development and good practice.


Qualifications

* Qualified Social Worker with current registration and eligible to practise with demonstrated knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
* Experience in statutory childcare work, including interventions under Child in Need Plans, Child Protection Plans, and Family Law proceedings, including Adoption.
* Strong ability to build relationships with children, families, carers and professionals across the child’s network.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively with diverse partners.
* Commitment to timely and appropriate support for children and families and to working within statutory duties.
