We're on a journey to build a workforce reflective of our Borough. We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong. If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you!
Your role:
We have an exciting opportunity to join the HR Pension team as a HR Support Assistant. Within this role, you will provide administrative support across several Pension Schemes. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role.
As an integral member of the HR & OD team, you will work closely with the HR Employment Service Centre, HR Systems Team, and other council departments and partner organisations including schools.
You will also be required to work across all areas of the HR Employment Services depending on current project requirements.
About you:
You will be comfortable juggling multiple priorities and meeting recurring deadlines with ease. Your outstanding customer service skills will ensure you support colleagues and managers across the organisation to provide a seamless service. You must be accurate with attention to detail and have the ability to analyse problems. The desire to identify improvements to processes would be advantageous to this role.
The team operates in a fast-paced environment with clear expectations and a strong commitment to meeting deadlines. We are looking for someone to support us in meeting our targets while delivering excellent customer-focused service.
About us:
Wigan Council has been voted ‘Overall Council of the Year’ at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.
The Progress with Unity plan is a movement for change for the next decade, aiming to create fair opportunities and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.
The HR Employment Services team in HR & OD provides Payroll, Pension, and HR transactional services to employees and managers in the council, schools, and academies, including a full recruit-to-pay service, pension administration, and payroll processing.
We support flexible working patterns and a blended approach to where we work, including from home, the office, or the community. We offer a range of rewards and benefits for our employees. Click here to find out more about working for #TeamWigan.
