The Role & Key Responsibilities
From your first day, you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe. In this role you will be part of a team that ensures the Force Command Centre is capable of operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will implement any changes to these systems in a controlled manner while providing help and guidance to all colleagues within the department.
You will supervise and support the Business Systems Team, leading day‑to‑day activities and following strategic plans set by the Business Systems Manager. The role provides hands‑on technical input, supports colleagues, and contributes to system improvements. It includes coordinating tasks, sharing knowledge, and supporting the development of team members in a collaborative environment.
Skills & Experience
A‑Level education in a directly related subject (e.g., IT, Computer Science, Systems Engineering). Specialist technical knowledge acquired through relevant experience, evidenced by successfully delivering a range of projects to a high standard. Experience with current systems and processes, including implementing new and planned initiatives, reviewing systems design and business processes to support and improve service delivery. Ideally gained within a Contact environment, preferably within a Police or Law Enforcement organisation or commercial IT environment.
Shortlisting and Interviews Will Look To Test Candidates With
* Proven experience managing and optimising technical systems within a high‑demand operational environment.
* Line‑managing technical staff and the ability to motivate and develop others.
* Understanding of system lifecycle management, including configuration, integration, and performance monitoring.
* Experience supporting strategic system planning and contributing to technical project delivery.
* Able to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences and stakeholders.
* Familiarity with SaaS platforms, CRM/contact management systems, and call handling technologies.
* Experience working in a regulated environment, with knowledge of data protection, cybersecurity, and compliance standards.
* Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external suppliers to deliver system improvements.

Further Information
The post holder must pass Vetting and may be required to travel between Surrey and Sussex Police premises, and occasionally outside the Force area for meetings. The position requires flexibility to support a 24/7 operational environment, including responding to incidents and system outages. Applicants may have to attend an Occupational Health consultation if required to be declared fit for the role, prior to confirmation of appointment. Interviews are expected to be held week commencing 19 January 2026.
